Use ClearSpent
with confidence.
A simple guide to track your budget, expenses, income, goals, recurring payments, loans, and monthly reports.
Quick start
- Create your account. Register with your name, phone number, email, and password.
- Activate by email. Open the activation email and click the link before logging in.
- Set your monthly budget. Open settings, enter your monthly budget, and save it.
- Add every expense. Tap the plus button and add amount, category, note, and date.
- Attach receipts if needed. Receipt photos are compressed before upload to save hosting space.
- Check the dashboard. Watch your budget used, safe today amount, spending split, and monthly comparison.
- Use categories. Add category limits if you want to control food, transport, bills, payments, and other spending.
- Review reports. Open the Report tab to see or print your monthly summary.
Main sections
Expenses
Add daily spending here. Use notes like lunch, fuel, rent, transfer, or shopping so you can understand where money went.
Income
Add salary, business income, side income, or any money received. This helps calculate your net balance.
Goals
Create saving targets, such as emergency fund, trip, car, or family expenses, then update progress over time.
Recurring
Add payments that repeat weekly, monthly, yearly, or one time. Use this for rent, subscriptions, bills, or planned payments.
Loans
Record money you borrowed from someone or money someone needs to return to you. Mark it settled when paid back.
Useful tips
- Add expenses the same day so your dashboard stays accurate.
- Use the Payments category for transfers, repayments, and paid amounts.
- Set category limits for areas where you overspend.
- Use the month selector to check previous month details.
- Use Backup all data from settings before making big changes.
- Use Profile to update your name and phone number.
- Turn on email notification preferences from Settings if you want reminders and report options.
- Use Delete my financial data only if you want to remove your saved money records.
Add ClearSpent to your phone
- Open ClearSpent in Safari.
- Tap the Share button at the bottom.
- Scroll and choose Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add, then open ClearSpent from the new icon.
- Open ClearSpent in Chrome.
- Tap the three dots menu.
- Choose Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Open it from the home screen icon.
If the screen looks old or stretched
Delete the old home-screen icon and add ClearSpent again after uploading a new version.

FAQs
Why do I need to activate my email?
Email activation helps stop fake/spam accounts and confirms you can receive password reset and account messages.
I registered but cannot log in. What should I do?
Check your inbox and spam/junk folder for the ClearSpent activation email. Click the activation link, then log in again.
How do I add an expense?
Tap the plus button, enter the amount, choose a category, add a note, select the date, then save.
How do I set my budget?
Tap the settings button, enter your monthly budget, and save. The dashboard will calculate spent, left, and budget used.
Can I check previous months?
Yes. Use the month selector on the dashboard to view another month. Reports also use the selected month.
What are category limits?
Category limits are optional monthly limits for each spending type. They help you see if you are close to overspending in a category.
What is Safe Today?
Safe Today estimates how much money you can safely spend per day based on your remaining budget and days left in the month.
Can I save receipts?
Yes. When adding an expense you can attach a receipt/photo. Image receipts are compressed before upload, and you can preview them later from the expense list.
Can I edit a mistake?
Yes. Expenses, income, and loan records can be edited from their section.
What are email notifications?
You can choose budget alerts, weekly summaries, and monthly report emails from Settings. After the hosting cron job is enabled, budget and category alerts send when you pass 80% or 100%, weekly summaries send on Sunday, and monthly reports send on the 1st day of the next month.
What if I forget my password?
Use Forgot password on the login page. A reset link will be sent to your registered and activated email address.
How do I add the app to my phone home screen?
On iPhone Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android Chrome, open the menu and tap Add to Home screen.
